Koffee with Karina and Briana Luca: Advice on Becoming a Beauty Blogger!

Briana is a lifestyle and beauty blogger. She launched her blog RoyallyPink.com in 2012 because she wanted to have a place where she could express her love towards new & beautiful things. She is currently living in New York City and is working as a social media coordinator.

I LOVE your blog! What made you want to launch it?
In the summer going into my junior year of college (2012!), I discovered the world of online blogs. Immediately, I knew that it was something I wanted to do and something I could do. I figured it would be a good way for me to showcase and improve my writing. I also thought it would be a good thing to put on a resume and show future employers.

The content is always on POINT! How do you plan your content?
I don’t really have a plan (and I’m sure a lot of people say that!), but I really just write about things that I find interesting. I’ve really gotten into beauty reviews/beauty blogging because that’s what I’m passionate about at the moment, but I love writing career posts and book reviews because those are important to me!

As for actually planning, I use my trusty notebook and Google Calendar, that way I can jot down ideas and then organize them on particular days, and I can get weekly/monthly views of the content I’m planning. It’s super useful for making sure I don’t have too many beauty posts in one week or too many sponsored posts close together.

This is such a weird question, but before starting your blog, did you ever get a gut feeling about launching it?
Never! I didn’t even know blogs were a thing. I don’t even remember how I discovered the first blog I read, it just happened. I think if I was looking at blogs now, and didn’t have one, I would definitely start one!

Do you have a “blogging routine” in order to get productive? If so, what does it look like? (Mine involves one too many cups of coffee haha!)
I don’t necessarily have a routine, but I always blog on Sundays. If I’m not busy on a Saturday, I’ll get a post or two in, but Sundays are my blogging day. I sit at my desk with a cup of coffee or tea and get to work! Then, I’ll take some photos, schedule my blogs and social media, and I’m usually done by 1PM, that way I can relax and enjoy the rest of my day!

You have THE BEST book recommendations! Are there any books that you think are perfect for people who want to start blogging?
Such a good question! There’s a great book called “Blog Inc” that I read when I first started blogging and it was really helpful. Also, a huge part of blogging is developing your personal brand and understanding social media. “Leave Your Mark” by Aliza Licht is a great read!
